Polaroid Angels

This is a fun process and the first of a series. coffeeteaphotography is a great blog with all kinds of great downloads and information. She has a polaroid download that is amazing. Angels and polaroids don't usually go together but I think these might! The magic of Photoshop!

This and that

Lil' lovely pieces to hang on walls or doorknobs

These were alot of fun to do. I search the vintage stores for vintage hankys and lace and I am aquiring a nice little collection. I work them into the pieces and dangle vintage metal sequins to add another layer and shine. All the images are printed on silk. The next group I make will be printed on Japanese digital paper from the incredible store Hiromi Paper.

Fractured images in process

These are some pieces that are in process. I love the gel transfer process and seeing the texture from the background imbeding into the image.I am experimenting with using linseed oil with watercolors and crackle effects. Don't know how much I will imbed the image so these may change drastically when they are finished. I love process and it is important for me to document it because I get caught up in the moment and I get out of the way so the muse can do its work. If I want to repeat something, I better photograph it!
My love of fabric and the folds it created are so sculptural...I always enjoyed draping to make a garment. Old fabric is so special because of the worn quality and recycling into something extremely different.

Print Design-Vintage Withering Flowers

These are designs I am creating in Photoshop. It's a combination of photos and digital painting.

Print repeat design

I just recently moved from Los Angeles, CA. to Charlotte, N.C. I worked in the apparel business as a print designer for the past 20 years. I primarily used Nedgraphics and Photoshop to some extent. I have been focused on my fine art this past year but would love to freelance using my print design skills. Here is a series of work I have done throughout the years. I am starting a new collection just for me that I call Vintage Withering flowers which I will show in another post.

I finally came up with a background image I like

I am very new at blogging. I picked up a copy of Artful Blogging and a light bulb went off. I had no idea how cool the blogging world was and how generous people are with information. Right now I am gathering all the information I can and then looking forward to passing it on. I look forward to meeting more of you in the world of blogging.

Flower Deva

I absolutely love digital painting!! I do so much handwork that it is fun to go into another zone of computer art. I had no idea you could paint like this in Photoshop but I took a tutorial from idrawgirls.com and this guy is an incredible artist and teacher. I learned so much and looking forward to doing more. Of course I am going to incorporate them into all my textile work. They are already in shadow boxes, stitched on t-shirts and pillows.
I am also taking another class with Kim Klassen creating texture effects in photoshop. When I discovered her blog I was so excited with what I saw. Even though we have different subject matter, the style of her work was something I was very interested in investigating. She is a very talented and generous artist. I love the community I am finding here in Blog land. There are so many discoveries and so much to learn and do.
