A fragile bird creature is caught.....

This is a mixed media piece using casein white paint, watercolors, and alcohol inks on vintage fabric. Experimenting with fabrics, not sure she needs all the frill and layers so I am just processing right now.....

Queen Charlotte's letters

I moved to Charlotte, NC. two years ago from Los Angeles. I kept seeing images of Queen Charlotte everywhere, she is the namesake for Charlotte, NC. When I did some research, I found these wonderful letters she wrote her brother while here during the Revolutionary War which was the inspiration for this piece.

Textile Print Designs

All prints were created in Photoshop. I separated the designs using index colors to easily recolor and then put them in repeat. For apparel or home dec.

Collage Portraits with Sharon Tomlinson

This has been a wonderful workshop. I have always struggled with acrylics. They always looked so plastic and flat to me. I decided to experiment using alcohol inks as shadow colors over the highlights which are painted in acrylic white and titanium buff. I like the look. The inks seem to be much richer. I am going to transfer on to gesso primed vintage linen and make a fiber piece from this image. LOVE this process!!

I would visit her blog often and looked at everyone of her photos of her work going back to 2004! To say the least, I am a big fan. When I found out she was teaching an online class at Artful Gathering, I jumped at the chance to take her class. When I posted my blog in the workshop, she took a look and became a big fan of mine! How cool is that. I feel so grateful because not only is she an incredible artist she has become my friend.

This is a wonderful workshop. I love vintage fabrics and layering. Making the rusty eyelets is really cool. Still in process, will post more when completed.

I need another challenge in my life.....yeah, right! I decided I needed to come up with alot of prints and a print a day is that challenge. I hope to mix it up and not just have layered and textured and dreamy prints which is what I love to do.

I have finally discovered digital painting in Photoshop. idrawgirls.com has some great digital painting tutorials. The technique is so painterly, no airbrushing. It's a much more organic approach.
